- Sanders and Casar introduce the Ban Artificial Superintelligence ActThe bill would ban building AI that could "destroy or disempower humanity", pause advanced AI development until a regulator sets safety rules, and create a cabinet-level Department of Artificial Intelligence. - Open letter calls for a prohibition on superintelligenceThe Future of Life Institute released the Statement on Superintelligence, calling for a ban on its development until there is broad scientific consensus it can be done safely and strong public support. - Meta reorganises its AI work as Meta Superintelligence LabsIn an internal memo, Mark Zuckerberg said "developing superintelligence is coming into sight" and grouped Meta's AI teams under a new unit led by Alexandr Wang. He described the goal as "personal superintelligence for everyone".Source
